Mildred Smolik
Mildred M. Smolik, age 100 of Table Grove, Ill. passed away at 2:25 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016 at The Elms Nursing Facility in Macomb, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Tuesday Aug. 9 at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington, Ill. with Fr. Anthony Lee officiating. Graveside Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday August 9th at Bohemian National Cemetery Braidwood, Ill. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8 at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home with memorials being made to St. Jude’s or the American Heart Association.
Mrs. Smolik was born Sept. 8, 1915 in Chicago the daughter of Gustav and Jennie (Vacheron) Blazicek. She married Ernest H. Smolik on December 19, 1936 in Chicago. Mr. Smolik preceded her on May 31, 1983.
She is survived by daughters, Diane (James) Hermes, Table Grove, Illinois, Karen (John) Kress, Wiggins, Colorado and a son, Ernest James (Judy) Smolik, Wilmot, Wisconsin. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded by her brother, Anthony Blazicek.
In her early years she was a beautician on State Street in the Chicago Loop. She attended St. Paul Catholic Church in Macomb and until recently she was active with the Fulton County Meals on Wheels.
