Helen Reeves
Helen Reeves, 90 of Bloomington, passed away at 7:18 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in Bloomington.
A private family graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bloomington. There will be no public visitation. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Helen was born January 20, 1927 in Normal, Illinois, the daughter of Wyatt P. and Emma J. Griffin. She married John V. Reeves on June 4, 1949 at St. Mary’s Church in Bloomington.
Helen graduated from Normal Community High School and was an executive secretary at State Farm until she retired.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Lewis and Elaine O’Brien, both of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Steve Long, Tony (Kim) Long, Krista (Jeff) Walsh, Traci Graves and Andrea (Rory) Maudlin; 2 great-grandchildren, Peter Neururer and David Knudsen; a great-great granddaughter, McKenzie Knudsen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also looking forward to the two great-grandchildren the family is expecting in January.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, her parents, siblings and son-in-law, James M. Lewis.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
