Jo Klawitter, 94, of Bloomington, Ill.,passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. at Martin Health Center, Bloomington.

Jo’s service will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington with Pastor Paul Stroup officiating. Following the service, burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be on Monday, April 2 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Second Presbyterian Church.

Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jo was born on Dec. 9, 1923, in Normal, Ill., the daughter of Carl E. and Anna (Karcher) Schultz. She married Gus Klawitter on Aug. 20, 1948 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1977.

Jo is survived by her son, Ron (Linda) Klawitter, Normal; her granddaughter, Kiri Klawitter, Chicago; her brother, Melvin (Kay) Schultz, Normal; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Carl and Bob Schultz.

Jo was a graduate of Normal Community High School Class of 1940 and attended ISNU. She worked as a legal secretary for Bob Fleming for over 50 years, and the Flemings thought of her as one of their family. She also volunteered at the OSF St. Joseph Gift Shop for several years. Jo was a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Bloomington and also the American Business Women’s Association. She was a long-time ISU Redbirds Fan and Chicago Cubs Fan. She enjoyed bowling and was on several leagues through the years. In their younger years, Jo and her husband Gus loved to ballroom dance and were excellent dancers of the Jitterbug.

Jo’s family would like to thank the staff of Martin Health Center for taking such good care of her during her stay there over the past four years.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
