Obituaries: Streeper, Wissmiller

Virginia Streeper

Virginia H. Streeper, 102, formerly of Hudson, passed away at 2:40 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga, IL.

Her funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, where visitation will begin one hour prior to services.   Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Bloomington.

She was born February 17, 1916 on Springfield, IL, daughter of Albert and Anna Hund Ihlenfeldt.   She married Jack G. Streeper on January 23, 1954, he preceded her in death on January 19, 2003.  She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jackie Streeper-Green; one brother and one sister.

Surviving are Jane (Rich) Sinnott of Ballwin, MO; a son-in-law, Jim Green of Neoga; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Virginia graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Illinois State Normal University and then first worked as an elementary school teacher.  She later worked as a secretary at Eureka Williams before staying home to raise her children.   After child-rearing, she then worked as a secretary at the McLean County Sheriff’s Department for several years.

She loved to travel the US with her husband, especially out West and she enjoyed camping.

Joseph Wissmiller

Joseph Wissmiller, 66, of Cooksville, passed away at 11:16 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with Rev. Wendell Wardell officiating.  Burial will be in Blue Mound Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, April 9 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cooksville Fire & Rescue or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Joe was born September 13, 1951 in Morris, the son of Eldon “Doc” and Josephine “Doey” Kruse Wissmiller.

He is survived by his life partner of twenty-six years, Lori Weed of Cooksville; his children, Aaron (Elaine Carter) Wissmiller of Bloomington, Derek (Kristine) Wissmiller of Oak Park and Shannon (Jared Carson) Weed of Ellsworth; seven grandchildren, Rowena, Jacob and Owen Wissmiller, Emmett Wissmiller and Jacob, Emily and Lilly Carson; four siblings, Michael (Cathy Weber) Wissmiller of Cooksville, Daniel Wissmiller of Cooksville, Peggy Sue Bliss of Bloomington and Pamela (Mark) Dehner of Clover, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Karen Kindig and Frank Timothy Wissmiller.

Joe graduated from Tri-Valley High School.  He was a lifelong resident and committed himself to the Village of Cooksville/Blue Mound Township Community.  He served as Blue Mound Township Road Commissioner for 40 years, retiring in 2017.

Joe was a beloved husband, father, Pa Pa, brother and friend who will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him.
