Duane MoweryDuane Mowery

Duane L. “Dewey” Mowery, 64, Mahomet, Ill., died 12:05 a.m. June 22, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury, Ill. Visitation will be on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family suggests memorials be given to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Duane was born October 25, 1952 in Fairbury, the son of Milton L. and Ethel Norine Chaudoin Mowery. He married Vicki Brown on May 5, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives in Mahomet.

Other survivors include his children, Shane (Joe) Mowery, Orland Park, Ill.; Craig (Echo) Mowery, Forrest, Ill.; Leslie (Chad) Bauman, Pontiac, Ill.; Chad (Michele) Brown and Cory (Heather) Brown, both of Robinson; Rhett (Charity) Brown, Flat Rock, Ill.; fifteen grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Mowery, Chicago; Ivan Mowery, Denver, Col.; and one sister, Mary Lynne Bailey, Fairbury.

He is preceded in death by one brother.

Dewey was an avid outdoorsman. It bought him joy to be on the golf course, on the softball field, on the pond or in the tree-stand, not only because that’s where he was the happiest, but also because he was able to share this happiness with his kids and grandkids.

He will be remembered most for his kind heart, sharp sense of humor, hard work ethic and love of nature.

Virginia Wahls

Virginia K. Wahls, 91 of Chatsworth, Ill. passed away at 3:57 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 at OSF St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Bloomington, Ill.

Her funeral will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church; Chatsworth with Pastor Mauricio Vieira officiating. Burial will follow Chatsworth Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017 also at the church in Chatsworth; and 10 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the service at the church on Monday. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, Ill. has charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family of Virginia K. Wahls.

Virginia was born December 2, 1925 in Strawn; the daughter of John and Flossie (Kessler) Leman. She married Albert Wahls on March 8, 1961, in Chatsworth. He died in May of 2001. Her parents and her best friend, Phyllis Shols also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Fred (Gwen) Wahls, Strawn; and Steve (Becky) Wahls, Fairbury, Ill.; and six grandchildren, Erin Wahls, Fisher, Ill.; Andy Wahls, Rachel Wahls both of Strawn, Ill.; Lacy (Joe) Turner, Chatsworth; Tyler Wahls, Loredo, Tex; and Carson Wahls, Fairbury; and 4 great grandchildren, Dairn, Mariah, Wyatt and Ruby Turner.

Virginia and Albert farmed for many years in the Strawn-Chatsworth area. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chatsworth. Virginia loved people and enjoyed any activity if she could be with friends and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
