Violet Ifft

Violet M. Ifft, 84, Fairbury, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

A private family service will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2017 with the ministers of the German Apostolic Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in East Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ifft was born July 24, 1932 in Fairbury the daughter of Fred and Viola Hanni Grosshans. She married Dale E. Ifft on December 28, 1969 in Fairbury. He survives in Fairbury.

Other survivors include one sister, Ruth Grosshans and one brother, David (Barbara) Grosshans, both of Fairbury.

She is preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Ifft was a homemaker and a member of the German Apostolic Christian Church.

Logan MoteLogan Mote

Logan Myles Mote, 20, of Normal and Columbia, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Columbia, Missouri.

His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church of Merna, Bloomington with Rev. Dustin Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Logan was born December 2, 1996 in Morris, Ill., the son of Stephen Douglas and Tina Marie Kaldheim Mote.

He is survived by his parents, Doug and Tina Mote of Normal; grandparents, Sue (Dick George) Mote of Lincoln and Bill (Vicki) Mote of Normal; great grandparents, Ronald and Nancy Schriber of Lincoln; four uncles, Jeff (Lori) Kaldheim of Morris, Rich (Kelly) Mote of Morris, Greg (Bridget) Mote of Bloomington and James (Michelle) Bateman of Bloomington; 12 cousins Nathan and Addison Kaldheim, Lindsey (Justin) Kerr; Brandon Swindells, Emma and Alex Mote; Madeleine, Billy and Jacob Mote; Cole, Brock and Dylan Bateman.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nolan and Mary Ann Kaldheim and great grandparents, Herbert and Marjorie Mote.

Logan attended Kindergarten through 3rd grade at St. Paul Grade School in O’Dell, where he had many friends. The family moved to the Bloomington-Normal area when Logan was in 4th grade. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and Junior High School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 2015. Always active in sports, Logan played baseball and junior football and later played both at Central Catholic. He went on to the University of Missouri at Columbia. He followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He was studying psychology so that he could help others.

Logan was a hard worker with a strong work ethic. He got his first job at Champion Fields at age 15 and he never stopped working.

Logan was a friend to all no matter what their connection was to others. He was an avid guitar player and loved to dance. He could light up any room with his smile or his laugh.

Logan loved pets and animals, but most of all, his family; he was the light in all their eyes.
