Karla was born on July 2, 1935 in Arenzville, the daughter of Arthur C. and Charlotte (Engelbach) Hart. She married Robert Weldon on April 13, 1958, in Arenzville.
Karla is survived by her husband; Robert, their children; Deborah (Fletcher Wise) Weldon of Bloomington, Susan (Jeff Grant) Weldon of Silver Spring, Maryland; Scott (Isabelle) Weldon of Singapore and Cindy Weldon of St. Paul, Minnesota, her grandchildren; Kara Albert Holthaus, Todd Albert, James Grant, Alison Grant and Sophie Weldon, three great grandchildren and her sister and brother; Peg (Jim) Ong of Plano, Texas and Neal (Dianna) Hart of Arenzville. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Karla was very active in many organizations. She was a member of the Sunset Rotary Club of Bloomington of which she was the current Treasurer and past President, Treasurer for the Friends Forever Group, Member of the Board of Directors at the First National Bank of Arenzville, HP Chapter of PEO, Ladies Gourmet Lunch Group, Sweet Adelines, ISU Civic Chorale, Illinois Symphony Guild, Thirty Fingers piano trio, As You Like It Club, Bloomington Travel Club and TTT.
Karla, a lifelong Cardinals fan, was an athlete herself, as an avid golfer, tennis player, skier and square dancer. She was also a bridge player, and a cribbage player (she never lost a match to her husband Bob). Karla enjoyed the Shakespeare Festival and attended every performance for the past 40 years. She was an artist, musician and painter. She was an adventurer and had traveled the world (including a recent trip to Easter Island she had dreamed of since high school). She was smart and curious, always working a puzzle or learning a new language. She was generous, both with time and money and was loyal and supportive, attending every event whether it be a family event, or from one of her many groups.
Karla will be truly missed by all of her family and friends.
